Migration Health and Wellbeing in Context Webinar Series

On the move: Where Does Wellbeing Fit?

This webinar marked the launch of a collaborative series exploring the intersections of migration, health, and wellbeing. The series brings together partners from the Gendered Violence and Poor Mental Health among Migrants in Precarious Situations (GEMMS) Global Health Research Group, Nurture4Youth Global Health Research Group, the African Centre for Migration & Society (ACMS), Wits University, and CoRE. This session examined how mobility shapes young people’s health and wellbeing, with particular attention to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) in contexts of precarity.

Cities in Motion

This session examined how migration and rapid urbanisation intersect with health inequities and multiple forms of violence across South Africa’s towns and cities. The discussion centred on how structural exclusion, anti-foreigner mobilisation, and systemic governance failures shape lived experiences of wellbeing in urban contexts.
